Helpful Hints on Hump Day

I'm linking up with Teresa over at Fun in K/1.

http://www.funink1.com/2013/11/book-box-helpful-hints.html

Have you ever written on something with a permanent marker and thought you were writing with an expo marker?

Or have you written the wrong thing in permanent marker by accident?

Well this recently happened to me.

One of my parent volunteers wrote the student's names on my frogs instead of their numbers.

I was a little upset thinking I would have to buy new frogs and spend all of  3 bucks on them!

That would mean one morning without a coffee!

NOT GONNA HAPPEN!

Thank goodness my teaching BF reminded me of this helpful hint.

All you have to do is color over the permanent marker with a dry-erase marker.

Wipe off and...

PRESTO!

The permanent marker is gone!

Be sure to head over to Teresa's blog for more helpful hints.

My Truth Monday

Today I was going to blog about my recent field trip to the fruit ranch but when I saw Denise's linkie I just had to join!

She's got a new series called My Truth Monday.

Today's topic is the F word...

FITNESS!
I have been on the yo-yo fitness train for as long as I can remember.

I am not self motivated so if I don't have someone waiting for me at the gym or a walking partner, I can make up the best excuses not to work out.

I have just recently started walking again and have plans to join a gym closer to my house on the first of the month.

Hopefully I can find some motivation through this linkie to get back on that train...the ride is nice!

Make sure to head on over to Sunny Day's in Second Grade's blog to read about others' truths or to share your own.

Helpful Hints on Hump Day {Field Trip Style}

I'm linking up today with Teresa from Fun in K/1

Helpful Hint #1

Instead of handing your parent volunteer a list of student names, hand them a lanyard with an ID sleeve attached!

Insert a list of the students each parent is responsible for and...

VOILA!
No more wrinkled lists!

Helpful Hint #2

I made new book bags this year and just happened to still have my old ones.

I gave each student one before leaving for the fruit ranch.

They put their lunch in them to carry on the bus and after lunch, their pumpkins for safe keeping!

Weeeeell...You get the idea!

No  more torn bags and pumpkins rolling down the aisle of the bus!

Make sure you stop by Teresa's blog for some other great hints.

aPPLe FuN {Tuesday Tried It Style}

In preparation for our field trip to the local fruit ranch, we have been learning all about apples.

What a fun adventure this has been.

We have been reading all about apples...

And doing trying all sorts of apple inspired activities from some pretty fabulous bloggers...

 Apple Labeling
This great idea is from Growing Kinders and Jessica Williams

Johnny Appleseed
Make sure you check out A Cupcake for the Teacher and Jessica Williams Apple Week Activities. They've got some really cute Johnny Appleseed ideas.

Our Apple Tree Seasons were inspired by The Teacher's Cauldron

Apple People also inspired by Jessica Williams

Tomorrow is our fieldtrip!!!

So excited to take our firsties on this fun farm adventure!

A lot of our students don't get the experiences that most of us take for granted.

Since I work in a low income school, we are only given a very limited budget for field trips.

Our budget wasn't large enough to cover the expenses of the entry fee and the 2 buses needed.

Even with a little wheeling and dealing, we still came up short.

Well, that wasn't going to stop my super fab team!

We are each contributing to cover the cost of a second bus.

Can't wait to see the excitement in our firsties eyes!

I've linked up with Fourth Grade Flipper for Tried it Tuesday.
Make sure you head over to Holly's blog to see what other bloggers have been up to.

Sept SLANT box

Yep, you read that right...

Sept SLANT box.

I am really, really sorry for the lateness of this post.

My box was from Elizabeth from Seconds at the Beach.

I had a lot of fun getting to know Elizabeth, turns out we live in neighboring states and she has relatives in Spokane.

This is what I saw when I opened the box.

Here are all the goodies!
The pencil pouch is to die for!!!

These were tucked away in the striped box.
LOVE!

Can't wait to put the printed paper tape to use!

I've also been doing a little baking again lately.

Here's one of my latest creations.

One of the teachers at work is going to be a Grandma of twins!

SOCK feet

The weathers been cold here so I have had to revert to my closed toed shoes.

BOO!!!

All my closed toed shoes have a heel on them.

I have been wearing several of them over the past week.

Well today I thought I would change it up a bit and wear my closed toed sling backs.

My feet were feeling really good the first 2 hours of the day.

Then, BAM!

You've got to be kidding me? It's only 11o'clock and my dogs are already barkin'!

UGH!!!

Well, what does one do when their feet hurt and there are still 4 more hours in the day?

Yep, take 'em off!

Since I took mine off, I told the kids they could take theirs off too.

What? Really? You're the best teacher ever! I LOVE you Miss Porche!

You would've sworn I had given my kids 100 bucks each.

Sad to say that when the shoes came off their brains came off as well.

Let's just say things got a lil crazy!

I was not about to put my shoes back on, so I just gave them all the stink eye my teacher look.

They settled right down {after they finished rolling around on the carpet}.

We were able to continue on with our very productive day.

Think I just may let them have SOCK feet more often!

Do you allow your students to take off their shoes?
